Day 78 - Sharing the Love

July 31st, 2009 No comments

One of the brilliant and moving aspects of this game is the opening it creates for truly generous circulation.

Thank You
Thank You

I’ve had other folks who are playing the game (see blogroll) contribute their game money toward my Big Dream and it just feels really good. And while not all of them have larger than life causes to drive and call them into a new way of being, they do the practice of stretching their imagination daily in order to arrive at a foundation of joy.

Today I feel like reciprocating.

So, as of today, there are seven folks on the blogroll. Those are all daily (or nearly daily) players who really go for it. Each of them gets $10,000 unconditionally today. Go, surprise someone, have fun. You have earned it.

I also wonder who else there is out there, playing along, that I haven’t discovered yet. I’m loving the community that’s evolving, the inspiration that is taking place, the expansion we are all uncovering together.

It’s moving

The remaining $8000 goes to Black And White Biplane Company. They’re in a jam. And I never would have known if I hadn’t given to charity. Here’s the details.

Last year I was at a dinner for Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, (HSMAI) an organization that keeps Hospitality Industry professionals connected. There was an auction to raise money for the organization. One of the packages was a 30 min biplane ride and a four hour limo ride.

I bought it knowing it would make a great experience for my son’s birthday. (If you’ve been reading, you know his birthday was yesterday.) Unfortunately, business has gotten to the point where Black and White Biplane was not able to honor the gift certificate without charging their cost of the flight.

It took awhile to arrive at mutual understanding and we did it. And still, the $125 they’re asking for is out of range of the wallet I’m holding. So, I’m certain that by applying $8,000 in game money to their circumstance by inviting all my online game buddies for rides something magic will happen and the gift certificate I got for my son’s birthday will be fully redeemable in a reasonable time.

There’s something remarkable that happens when we put game money (positive attention and energy) on things in the world. They appreciate and become effortlessly possible. It’s pretty cool.

So, hold good thoughts for Brian Beker, owner of Black and White Biplane, and for Romeo, the birthday boy, who is patiently eager to enjoy the ride in the sky in celebration of reaching ten years of age.

PS. The limo company must be going through the same thing. They haven’t called back to honor the certificate or schedule a ride. It’s amazing how tough people can make times. I’m knowing all is well.

Day 77 - Celebrate

This is my son’s birthday. I’m at a unique place today.

I Can Fly
I Can Fly

I have a large amount to play with in the game. And combined he and I have very active imaginations. This is the first time in his ten years that I am not physically in a position to give him a gift, take him on an outing, or spend money on him. My accounts are empty. But my options are huge.

Oddly, it seems like it will be fun to wake him up today and ask, “If all we have is our imagination, what can we do to make today an amazing birthday?”

There are hikes in our area. He always loves to play catch. We can build something, or write something. There’s three unwatched DVDs of Avatar, The Last Airbender we can watch.

And most of all, I know he knows he is loved. So, I’m not feeling guilty about not spoiling him this year. He may remember it as his favorite for all I know.

And it isn’t as if I haven’t been doing my part to put food on our table and presents in his hand. I’ve been sending resumes out all over the place to very cool companies and positions that matter to me. We’re just in funky times that are giving us all opportunities to be creative and positive in the face of new conditions.

I’ve even made efforts to sell a watch so that I could have gas money to pick him up and drop him off at his Mom’s. So, its not like I’m slouching on his birthday.

Earlier this month, I came up with fun stuff to do on his birthday. The bill on that was slightly higher than I originally calculated, by $26,482, to be exact. That leaves us $50,518 today.

Knowing my son, he’ll want to go to Magic Mountain again. We’ll put $25,000 toward insurance and investments for him. The rest we’ll use to play at the theme park. We’ll buy toys for all the kids who go to Magic Mountain today and see how many smiles we can collect in the form of photographs.

In fact maybe that’s what we’ll do for real. Go to the mall and take pictures of people smiling.

Happy Birthday son, I love you.

Day 76 - Research and Development Engine

Alright. I believe this will be the last of its kind for awhile.

All Our Rockstars Are People
All Our Rockstars Are People

Clearly I’m getting ahead on my vision to create a web-based version of a social game similar to this Prosperity Game process.

You can tell, because it is all I’m writing about at the moment.

The next major place to focus attention and energy for that project is on Research and Development. And because the company is about people, it’s about research and development of people.

Primarily our people. So, for the moment, our next staff is our staffer, or the person who builds our people from the inside and the out.

Our recruiting process will be long and rigorous. We’ll only bring on the best, and often ask them to accept the least. We want commitment and talent, not bloated pomp and pedigree.

We’ll approach our people a little differently than the average company would. In order to offer the highest level of growth and development for our company, we’re going to offer ongoing leadership learning for our members at all levels.

To whatever degree they see themselves striving.

Places we’ll support curriculum are Institute of Embodied Wisdom, Landmark Education, Peak Potentials and Nine Gates Mystery School. There may be others. We just need to learn about them.

Leadership happens from anywhere in an organization that people are willing to trust their guts and take action on it. I think it is beautiful when a culture recognizes and promotes this principle.

Thanks for watching as I assemble this team at first on canvass. I’m excited to report the actual results as those arrive.

I’m noticing I’ve been playing non-stop for over 75 days now. The physical fruits of the game are not so tangible. Yet.

The doors that are opening are certainly exciting. What it ultimately feels like is that its recalibrating my point of view so that the station I occupy and contribute to society from is aligning with how I saw myself at this age as a kid.

It’s rewriting my present into something that feels like the dreams I’ve always had for myself. It is facilitating a lot of transformation.

Not sure that makes sense. Not sure if I care. May sound rude, but I know I get it, and that’s who I’m doing it for. The best me I’m here to be.

Thanks for following this far. It gets better, even. I just know it.
